Food Drive FAQs
How do I get started?
Before submitting a food drive form to Food For Neighbors, you should gather the following information:
- Choose a Date: Your food drive donation will be dropped off at one of our Red Bag food collection events. Determine which event works best for your schedule. You can find the dates here.
- Find some Volunteers: You’ll need to deliver your donation to one of our Red Bag food sorting events at 9:00 a.m. You should identify volunteers that can help with this.
- Review our Grocery List: Please review our grocery list for the items we collect. Unfortunately we cannot accept family-sized items.
When you’re ready to get started, just complete the form and we’ll get in touch with you within five business days.
What items do you collect?
We have a grocery list that includes everything we collect. We also encourage you to collect toiletries from our list, too.
To ensure safety and quality, we cannot accept:
- anything not listed on the Red Bag grocery list
- opened or expired items
- home-cooked items
- sugary items, like cookies, candy and gum
Important Reminders:
- At this time, we are not collecting family-sized items.
Thank you for helping us provide students with the food they need!
What happens when I drop off my donation?
We’re thrilled that you’ll get to see one of our sorting events in action! These events are the heart of what we do, bringing together the community–and the enthusiasm is truly contagious.
When you drop off at a sorting site, you’ll have the chance to meet our incredible volunteers and leadership, help weigh your donations before they’re sorted, and capture moments for your social media. Be sure to tag us—we’d love to celebrate your generosity with you!
